Latest updates to site : 2008 Taydec as successfully campaigned by Andy Hiley for the last 4 seasons in the 750 Motor Club Kit Car Championship. Also eligible for the SR & GT Series & Northern Sportscar Championship. October 2007 - Mallory http://www.srgtc.org.uk/2007-report-mallory.htm See Full Report by Tony Webb Seeing two Taydec's in the same race these days is quite unusual, which it seemed also gave John Suckling a desire not to let Andy Hiley take all the glory, John keeping his Taydec in front of the mainly Class C Jaguars and putting up fastest lap in Class D just a second quicker than Adam. Although Andy Hiley had won the race on the track, as an Invited guest he unfortunately was not eligible for the rather fine trophy that was on offer, this was awarded to a rather happy looking Mark Jordan. Instead Andy Hiley was awarded a SRGT umbrella.

That car is nothing less than drop-dead gorgeous and it goes like stink too! I've been in and around racing for 25 years and, amazingly, it's the first time I can remember seeing one race! You should be applauded for making something so good available to Joe Public You now have a new fan (and, with luck, maybe a new customer once the garage/workshop is built!)”. A brief introduction : - The APR Taydec is a sports racing 'Kit-car’ that has its origins in the heyday of 2 litre sport prototype racing cars of the 70's.
Why ?
The modern FWD unit is light weight, powerful and readily available from any vehicle dismantler. The long term availability of power units that are available for the club racer, will have to be those using the modern front wheel drive unit. This may also include the ECU fuel injection and catalytic converter of that power unit. The policing of a standard ECU must be possible. The donor vehicles are Ford, Vauxhall and Mazda. This unlikely combination provides all the running gear at an affordable cost.
all standard and easy to maintain.
Is to produce a race and/or trackday car that can utilize any transverse power unit. Everybody has their own preference and with the Taydec you the customer could quite literally take your own power/gear box unit out of the FWD car, install it in the Taydec and you would soon be up and running. The choice is yours :
In John’s opinion the Honda Type 'R' power unit would be fantastic, with its variable valve timing, 6 speed sequential gear box, limited slip differential and traction control. This unit would surely make a very good racing car or a brilliant track day car. The aim is to make the APR Taydec competitive within the 750 Motor Club for Kit Cars (particularly Class A) and the Sports Racing & GT Championships. (see results to date) See 750 Motor Club Kit Car - Class B Driver - Andy Hiley
John's preference would be the Porsche Boxter unit, but this unit is quite rightly banned from the 750 KIT Car Championship, on the grounds of cost. Estimates are that the package would be comparable to most of the quality Kit Cars available on the market. A car could be completed for less than £10,000 by a competent customer, depending on the choice of the power unit. Car No. 53 has been built and is very much proving itself in Class B of the 750 Motor Club 2004 Kit Car Championship. (Driver : Andy Hiley)
