About John

Designer/Builder

John Suckling is no stranger to 750 Motor club events having built himself and run a Locost for the last two years, (2002/2003). John decided to seek another challenge and decided that a Taydec Mk. 3 would fit very well into the Class A of the SR&GTC.

John liked the idea of being on a grid of real racing cars from the era and values the safety margin a fully closed wheel car can add.

He comments on the nature of the SR & GTC competitors “I like the people, these are gents who if they go too hard have to crawl under the car on Monday evening – it seems to make for civil racing!”

John looked forward to running the car with its 8-valve Vauxhall engine but has no illusions about running a new car in its first year (2004)

“I am not taking the Locost off the track until I know that the Taydec is reliable. I reckon that the low weight and nimbleness of the what is really a mini Mclaren M8 will fit in well against the much more powerful front engined cars like Cobras and big cars like GT40’s – I am really looking forward to it!”

Taydecs are rare cars with 5 having been built in the very late 60’s. John is no stranger to the racing community, supplying as he does Autoclaves and Ovens to many of the leading Formula 1 teams.
